While some people are happy to grab an instant coffee and go, true coffee lovers prefer to take a bit more time to enjoy a delicious, intentionally-prepared cup of their favourite roast.
This is why drip coffee brewers are a classic style of coffee maker, offering you strong, full-flavoured coffee with a great bloom.
The aerolatte® Drip Coffee Brewer with Microfilter doesn’t require any paper filters. Simply scoop your freshly ground coffee into the steel microfilter that sits perfectly in the heat-resistant borosilicate glass carafe, then pour hot water.
The filter is etched with super fine 0.2mm holes, allowing the right amount of oils through to add flavour to your coffee without leaving you with the robust taste you’d get with a normal metal filter.
We explored different options when designing this filter and realised that etched holes are far more effective than punched or lasered alternatives, creating a better-tasting coffee as well as being easier to clean.
The result is a smooth coffee but with body – somewhere between our paper filters and our cafetieres/French Presses.
Serving suggestions
Pour a small amount of very hot (but not boiling) water on the coffee in the filter in a circular motion, beginning from the outside and working into the middle. You want the coffee to be soaked without the water dripping through the filter.
Wait for one minute to allow the hot water to release the gases in the freshly ground coffee, then pour hot water into the filter (enough for one to two cups).
Even giving your coffee 30 seconds or so to bloom will enhance its flavour, especially if it was roasted within the last two weeks.
